Chris Edwards scored 12 of Monsignor Farrell's 14 points in overtime, including a game-winning buzzer-beater, as the Lions advanced to the CHSAA A Division semifinals with a 59-57 win over St. Edmund Prep in the quarterfinal round at Mount Saint Michael Academy in the Bronx on Saturday.

Edwards put Farrell ahead 55-52 on a spinning 3-point play with 53.5 seconds left in overtime, but Chris Wiggan converted a pair of free throws for St. Edmund Prep on the next trip, bringing the Eagles within a point at 55-54 with 35.2 seconds on the clock. St. Edmund was forced to foul after a Farrell timeout, and the Eagles put Justin Zieris on the stripe with 26.6 seconds remaining. Zieris made both to give the Lions another 3 point lead at 57-54, but Cameron Shields connected on a contested 3-pointer on the ensuing possession, knotting the score at 57 and prompting another Farrell timeout with just 12.6 ticks left.

The Lions went to Edwards on the last possession, and he backed his way into the lane and connected on a clutch turn around jumper just ahead of the horn, sending Farrell into the semis. Edwards finished with a game-high 20 points, while Zieris and Anthony Clemenza scored 14 each for Farrell. Zieris scored the last points in regulation, tying the score at 45 on a 3-point play in the final minute and sending the game into overtime.

The Lions will face LaSalle Academy at 6:00 on Tuesday night in the semifinal round at St. Raymond High School in the Bronx. The Cardinals upset All Hallows, the top seed from the CHSAA A North, 58-50 on Saturday.

Sean Edwards led St. Edmund Prep with 17 points, while Shemar Latty finished with 16 points and Shields 13 for the Eagles.
