Bryce Council had 17 points to lead LaSalle over Regis 68-57 in a CHSAA Class B match-up on the Upper East Side on Saturday. After trailing 10-9 at the end of the first quarter, LaSalle outscored Regis 47-26 in the next two quarters, giving LaSalle a 20 point lead at the end of the third. Looking like the game was out of reach, Regis fought back behind Conor Peterson, who scored 12 of his game-high 20 points in the fourth, cutting the lead to below double digits. LaSalle closed out the win by scoring 10 of its 12 fourth quarter points from the free throw line. LaSalle's defensive pressure bothered Regis throughout the game, forcing turnovers that lead to transition points and causing Regis to miss contested shots around the basket. LaSalle also looked sharp on offense, with Reggie Outlaw and Isaiah Allen-Smith contributing 15 points and 13 points, respectivelty. With this win, LaSalle retained sole possession of first place in the CHSAA B Division and is now 4-0 in CHSAA league play and 11-2 overall. LaSalle looked worthy of its number 17 New York State Class B ranking, and perhaps should be moved up a few notches. Regis is now 2-2 in CHSAA league play and 4-7 overall. Up next for LaSalle is Moore Catholic on Staten Island on Wednesday, while Regis will travel to Astoria on Tuesday to take on St. John's Prep.
