Christ the King closed the second quarter on an 18-5 run, creating a 16-point halftime cushion en route to a 61-35 road win over CHSAA rival Bishop Loughlin in Brooklyn on Thursday night. Natalija Marshall (7), Nina Rickards (5) and Kaelynn Satterfield (4) accounted for 16 of the Lady Royals' 22 points in the second frame. The rally intensified after a heated exchange between the benches was apparently triggered by a hard foul on Marshall, who had blocked a shot and was caught on the arm while driving towards the hoop. Christ the King scored six straight after that, taking a 36-20 lead at the break.

The Lady Royals continued to pull away in the third, with Marshall, Rickards and Satterfield again providing the bulk of the offense, each with a pair of buckets combining for 12 of CTK's 18 third quarter points. Loughlin managed just 8 points in the third, all of which were scored by Stephanie McBride, and  CTK took a 54-28 lead into the fourth, cruising the rest of the way.

Marshall finished with 16 points and Klarke Sconiers scored 10 for the Lady Royals, while McBride put up a game-high 18 for the Lady Lions.

Christ the King, currently ranked 2nd in New York State by the NYSSWA, has two tough games coming up in short order. The Lady Royals will travel to the Westchester Counter Center on Friday night to take on third-ranked perennial NYSPHSAA power Ossining, and will then host Monsignor Scanlan on Sunday morning in the opener of the Apparel Challenge.
