DaMarco Watson scored 14 of his game-high 31 points in the second quarter, as Eagle Academy put up 27 points in the frame, carrying them to a 76-66 win over PSAL Manhattan AA front-runner Thurgood Marshall Academy in the Bronx on Thursday.
TMA held an 18-16 lead after the first quarter, but the Panthers were outscored 27-15 in the second, with Watson, the PSAL's third leading scorer at 33.09 points per game, igniting Eagle Academy's offense to put the Eagles ahead 43-33 at the half.

Eagle Academy led by as many as 17 in the third, but TMA, behind Omar Nkonde (17 points) and Kevin Dinkins Jr (15 points) managed to keep the lead around 10 for most of the second half. The highlight of the game was a steal and windmill dunk by Vernon Simmons, who finished with 15 points for Eagle Academy. Edwin Santiago Jr also scored 15 for the Eagles, including three 3-pointers.

This was the first league loss for Thurgood Marhsall Academy, which has already locked up first place in the PSAL Manhattan AA standings with a record of 12-1. The Panthers have just one league contest remaining, a road game at WHEELS (8-3) on Tuesday.

Eagle Academy improves to 12-2 in league play, first place in the PSAL Bronx AA standings. The Eagles will also close out their regular season schedule on Tuesday, hosting James Monroe.
