Zack Bruno and Jordan Guzman had 16 points each and Nyontay Wisseh had 14 points, as Xaverian defeated Cardinal Hayes 59-54 in Brooklyn on Sunday afternoon. This was Xaverian's third straight win, each one coming against teams ranked in the top 25 of New York State (Christ the King-10, Iona Prep-15 and Cardinal Hayes-22). Although Iona Prep and Cardinal Hayes played without their respective best players (Ty Jerome and Clive Allen), the Clippers are now 5-3 in CHSAA league play and 9-4 overall. Despite playing without Allen and suiting up only seven players, Cardinal Hayes led by three points at halftime before being outscored by Xaverian 14-6 in the third quarter. Ishmael Massoud had 17 points for Hayes, including five 3-pointers. Xaverian's next game is Friday versus St. Francis Prep at home, while Cardinal Hayes will travel to White Plains to take on Stepinac on Tuesday.
