Khalid Moore had 19 points to lead Archbishop Molloy in a 62-47 win over Mount St. Michael in a CHSAA AA boys varsity basketball match-up in Queens on Tuesday. Molloy opened the game on a 9-2 run and led Mount 14-8 at the end of the first, with Moore scoring seven points in the opening quarter. Mount fought back to cut the deficit to 26-24 at halftime behind Elijah Buchanan, who scored 10 of his 12 points in the second quarter. After leading 38-35 at the end of the third quarter, Molloy's offense looked sharp in the fourth, especially after Mount switched to man-to-man on defense. Moore, Isaac Grant, John Herring, Dominick Priolo and Moses Brown all had key buckets in the final quarter, many of them set up by point guard Cole Anthony, who finished with 12 points. Molloy's defense also held Buchanan, the CHSAA's second leading scorer, scoreless in the second half. Joseph Bull had 13 points for Mount.
Molloy, currently ranked 7th in New York State, is now 8-1 in CHSAA league play and 13-2 overall. Mount is now 3-7 in CHSAA league play and 8-8 overall. Molloy will travel to Brooklyn on Wednesday to take on Xaverian, while Mount's next game is Thursday at Iona Prep.
