Isaiah Washington had a game-high 23 points, as St. Raymond pulled away from an upset-minded St. Peter's late in the second half on its way to a 93-70 win in the first round of the NY Archdiocesan basketball tournament on Sunday. St. Peter's went punch-for-punch with St. Raymond early, with Andrew Kartalis, Dylan Walsh and Liam Sanborn all making shots from the perimeter. The Eagles had a 19-16 lead until Isaiah Washington's step-back 3-pointer at the buzzer tied the score at 19 at the end of the first. St. Raymond took a slim 43-39 lead at the half, behind Washington, who scored 8 points in the second quarter. Sidney Wilson sparked the Ravens with two spectacular dunks in the third quarter, the first coming on an alley-oop pass from Omar Silverio and the second coming on a brilliant spin move in the lane. St. Raymond had a 10-point lead late in the third, but Jordan Fox's basket beat the buzzer to cut the deficit to 66-58 heading into the fourth. The Ravens finally put the game out of reach in the final quarter, outscoring the Eagles 27-12, including an amazing one-handed follow-up slam by Brian Adams as the proverbial exclamation point. Dallas Watson had 20 points and Sidney Wilson had 15 points for St. Raymond, who will face Iona Prep in the NY Archdiocesan Seminfinals at Mount Saint Michael on Tuesday. Kartalis and Walsh had 18 points and Sanborn had 17 points for St. Peter's. There were 25 3-pointers in this game, 13 by St. Peter's and 12 by St. Raymond.
