Keith Williams had 22 points and Markquis Nowell had 20 points to lead Bishop Loughlin to a 79-67 win over top-seed Archbishop Molloy in the CHSAA Brooklyn-Queens Diocesan basketball tournament final on Friday night at St. Francis Prep. After leading 19-17 at the end of the first quarter, the Lions outscored the Stanners 24-13 in the second, sparked by Nowell, who scored seven points in the quarter, including a 3-pointer from well beyond NBA range. Adrien Nunez had all five of his points for Loughlin in the second, including a 3-pointer from the corner that put Loughlin ahead 39-28 with 2:00 left in the half. Williams opened the third quarter with a 3-pointer, extending Loughlin's lead to 46-30, and the lead ballooned to 64-42 after Nowell made a 3-pointer from the corner with 2:28 left in the third. Although Loughlin only made 6 of 12 free throws in the fourth, it was enough to hold off the Stanners for the 79-67 win, and the CHSAA Brooklyn-Queens crown. Isaac Grant had a game-high 22 points and Khalid Moore had 15 points for Molloy.
