Shamorie Ponds had 23 points, Rasheem Dunn had 22 points and Curtis Smith had 16 points to lead Thomas Jefferson to a 74-65 win over Wings Academy in the PSAL AA boys basketball semifinals at Carnesecca Arena on Saturday night. Jefferson started the game on a 8-2 run and led 26-17 at the end of the first before Wings stormed back, opening the second quarter on a 15-4 run to take a 32-30 lead. Jefferson countered to take a slim 41-40 lead at halftime, which it retained at the end of the third quarter, leading 54-53 heading into the fourth. Ponds and Dunn took over in the fourth, as the Orange Wave outscored Wings 20-12 in the final quarter, sending Jefferson to the PSAL AA final, where they will face Lincoln for the fourth time this season, this time at Madison Square Garden, the Mecca of Basketball, for the City Championship next Saturday.
