McClancy tops Sacred Heart 62-32 to win the CHSAA Girls B State Title

Less than 24 hours after she scored 25 points in McClancy's win over St. John the Baptist in the CHSAA Girls B State Semifinal, Taylor Aybar came up huge for the Lady Crusaders again, scoring 32 points to lead McClancy to a 62-32 win over Sacred Heart in the CHSAA Girls B State Championship Game at St. John Villa Academy on Staten Island on Saturday. Aybar scored 19 points in the first half, giving McClancy a 27-16 lead at the intermission. The Lady Crusaders put the game out of reach in the third, outscoring Sacred Heart 20-8 to take a 47-24 advantage heading into the fourth. McClancy made 15 of 19 free throw attempts in the second half to seal the win and secure the CHSAA Girls B State Championship. Kaitlyn Stenz and Kristina Krslovic each had six points and Gina Hopkins had five points for McClancy. Aybar's 32 points matched Sacred Heart's total for the game and, together with her 25 point performance in the semifinal, Aybar put up 57 points in two games with the season on the line, all within a span of 20 hours.
