Michael O'Brien scored 21 points and Samuel Pohlman scored 20 to lead Beacon to a 64-58 win over Canarsie at the PSAL A Division showcase at Thomas Edison HS in Queens on Saturday. O'Brien (6) and Pohlman (4) combined for 10 of Beacon's 12 3-pointers in the game, pulling away from Canarsie down the stretch. Amag Tate scored a game-high 24 points for the Chiefs.
Both teams figure to be a contender in the upcoming PSAL A Division playoffs. Beacon is 10-1 in the PSAL's A NW II Division and Canarsie is 13-0 atop the Brooklyn A1. Canarsie is currently ranked 6th in New York State and 2nd in NYC by the New York State Sportswriters Association. Beacon likely earned a spot in the next NYSSWA rankings, which are expected tomorrow.
