Boro Bounce: Tuesday February 11, 2020

February 11, 2020

The PSAL postseason got underway yesterday.  Here's an update to catch you up to speed.

Brooklyn Boro Tournament

Uncommon Charter, a PSAL B Division constituent and the 8 seed in the Brooklyn borough tournament, knocked off 9 seed Abraham Lincoln of the prestigious Brooklyn AA 58-52. Ahzariah Douglas scored 28 points and had 11 rebounds for Uncommon Charter, who advances to the quarterfinal round on Tuesday, when they will take on top seed Boys & Girls and Khalil Brantley. Brantley has had a spectacular junior season for the Kangaroos so far, including two 3-point buzzer-beaters exactly one month apart (the first against Brentwood on January 4th, the second against Brooklyn Collegiate on February 4th).

In the other opening round game in Brooklyn, Eagle II of the Brooklyn AA, the 10 seed, outlasted Bedford Academy 83-75 in 3 OTs. Eagle II gets the 2 seed, South Shore on the road in the quarters on Tuesday.

The other quarterfinal matchups in Brooklyn on Tuesday are Canarsie (6) at Brooklyn Collegiate (3) and perhaps the most intriguing early round game in all of the borough tournaments, 5th-seeded Brooklyn AA powerhouse Thomas Jefferson at 4th-seeded Benjamin Banneker, the top-ranked A Division team in NYC and NYS.
