Jordan Riley scored 19 points and Bryce Harris had 17, as Brentwood held off Chaminade 65-62 in an early-season non-league tilt that featured two of Long Island's top-ranked teams. The Indians entered Friday night's game ranked 5th in New York State and 2nd on Long Island by the NYSSWA, while Chaminade came in ranked 4th in NYS and 1st on LI among Class A schools.
Brentwood rallied late in the third quarter, taking a 53-44 advantage into the fourth after a two-handed dunk by Harris and a 3-pointer by Romello Wright. The Indians looked like they sealed it when a run-out layup by Amari Isaacs made it 65-60 in the final minute, but Chaminade made it a one possession game after a made free throw and a lane violation made it 65-62. The Flyers regained possession in the closing seconds and found themselves in a position to tie the game on a 3-pointer. After misfiring on two 3-point attempts, Chaminade called a timeout to draw up a play with just 2.4 ticks left. Kieran Dorney got a clean look from the corner, but did not connect. Michael O'Connell had a game-high 24 points for Chaminade.
