Cardozo flexed its muscles at the Big Apple Invitational at Baruch College today, rolling to a 70-52 win over Friendship Charter Academy (DC) and reminding everyone why they are currently ranked number 1 in New York State and 21st nationally (USA Today). Rashond Salnave had 23 points for the Judges and Aaron Walker was two assists shy of a triple double, scoring 12 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing out eight assists. Walker also had four steals, including one that lead to a fast-break dunk (see below) and showed that he is one of the best (if not the best) on-ball defenders in New York City. Tahiyr Vines had 14 points and Amiri White had 10 points for Cardozo, who shot 54.3% from the floor and 47.1% from 3-point range. The Judges led comfortably throughout the game, and their defense bothered Friendship Charter, who shot just 35.7% from the floor and 28% from 3-point range. Salnave, who, in addition to his 23 points, also grabbed eight rebounds and had five assists, was awarded MVP for the game.
