Thanks in large part to a relentless effort on the offensive glass, Cardozo earned a big road win in Flushing on Tuesday night, topping John Bowne 59-52. Errol White and Aaron Miller each recorded a double-double for the Judges, with White collecting 12 offensive boards to help Cardozo gain sole possession of first place in the PSAL Queens AA Division, improving their league record to 6-0.

With both teams entering unbeaten in league play, Cardozo and Bowne played even at 13 in the first frame before the Judges jumped in front. Cardozo closed the half on a 7-0 run, as Romello Faison scored 7 of his 11 points in the second quarter and the Judges took a 28-21 lead at the break.

Miller scored 8 of Cardozo's 17 third quarter points, and Judges held a commanding 45-33 lead heading into the fourth before Bowne rallied and made their run. Amadou Diallo ignited the crowd when his deep 3-pointer made it a two possession game at 52-46 with 3:50 to play, and Tyshawn Trail's driving score brought Bowne within four at 52-48 at the 2:50 mark. Even with the shift in momentum, the Wildcats were unable keep the Judges off of the offensive glass. Put-backs by White and Miller gave Cardozo a 58-50 lead with just 1:30 left, and although Diallo's leaner made it a two possession game at 58-52 with 40 ticks left, the Wildcats, forced to foul, couldn't close that gap.

Miller finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds and White had 12 and 20 for Cardozo. Diallo scored a game-high 16 points and Aguibou Balde had 14 for Bowne.

This was the first league loss for the Wildcats, who entered on the heels of a convincing 76-53 win over previously unbeaten Francis Lewis on Thursday. Bowne, ranked 5th in NYS and 3rd in NYC in today's NYSSWA poll, will host Construction on Thursday.

Cardozo, 15th in NYS and 10th in NYC in today's poll, certainly made the case for an improved ranking next week pending a home game against Francis Lewis on Thursday.

The second meeting between Cardozo and Bowne is scheduled for January 28th in Bayside.
