Frederick Douglass Academy defeated Thurgood Marshall 72-65 in the PSAL Manahattan Borough Final at York College on Sunday. Trailing 17-9 at the end of the first quarter, FDA came back to tie the game at 20 with about 2:35 left in the second quarter before falling behind 29-28 at the half. After a 9-0 run coming on two 3-pointers by Reggie Quezada and one 3-pointer by Jain Suber, Thurgood Marshall pushed its lead to 40-32 with 4:40 left to play in the third quarter before FDA closed the deficit to 50-45 heading into the fourth. FDA tied the game at 53 on Travis Cox's 3-pointer with 5:30 to play and took a 56-53 lead at the 4:40 mark on another clutch 3-pointer from Cox. Lasana Camara's put-back with 2:50 left gave FDA a 61-60 lead which it held until Jalen Denny's 3-pointer tied the game at 65 with 55 seconds left. FDA then closed the game on a 7-0 run that included baskets by Camara, Anthony Boateng and Cox, giving it a 72-65 win and the Manhattan Borough Championship.
