Holy Cross withstood a late fourth quarter rally by Archbishop Molloy to top the Stanners 73-66 in a CHSAA Brooklyn-Queens AA clash in Briarwood, Queens on Friday night.

The Knights held a comfortable 66-52 cushion after a layup by Devin Grant with 5:45 left, but Molloy charged back after a 3-point play by Speedy Carcamo, sparking a furious 14-3 run that made it a one possession game at 69-66 after a corner triple by Michael Hernandez with just 1:03 remaining.

Molloy was in a position to tie the game with a three after Alan Rodriguez was whsitled for an offensive foul, but the Stanners came up empty on the trip and Holy Cross sealed it with layups by Regan Burke and Anthony Walters.

Tyler Chapman led Holy Cross with 22 points and Walters finished with 20, mostly well-earned muscle points in the paint.

Christian Bliss scored 18 points to lead Molloy, while Carcamo and Hernandez scored 13 each.

Holy Cross is now 3-5 in CHSAA league play and 7-7 overall, a half game behind Molloy, who is now 3-4 in the CHSAA B/Q standings and 10-5 overall.

Holy Cross will host red-hot Stevenson of the PSAL in a non-league contest on Monday, and the Knights will visit St. Francis Prep for their next league game on Friday.

Molloy will visit St. Raymond on Monday. The Ravens have won their last three league games by healthy margins, all on the road, including a 93-68 win over Archbishop Stepinac and a 76-56 win at Iona Prep on Friday night.
