After enduring a tough loss to Stevenson on a 3-point buzzer-beater by Elijah Perez on Wednesday, KIPP Prep bounced back with a resilient 64-55 overtime win at Evander Childs in the Bronx on Friday night.
The Bulldogs led by as many as 16 points in the third quarter, but Evander Childs came back to take the lead in the fourth before the score became knotted at 49 at the end of regulation. KIPP outscored Evander Childs 15-6 in the extra session, with Damir Brooks (7) and Herb Hawkins (5) accounting for 12 of KIPP's 15 overtime points.
Brooks finished with a game-high 25 points and Zahir Caldwell had 18 points for KIPP. The Bulldogs are now 11-1 in the PSAL Bronx A Central standings, and will face a tough test today, taking on Benjamin Banneker at Uncommon Charter High School in Brooklyn.
Jahdale Givens led Evander Childs with 21 points. The Tigers are now 6-4 in the PSAL Bronx A East standings and will host Lehman on Monday.
