Ryan Myers scored a game-high 24 points, as Christ the King overcame a 12 point deficit heading into the fourth quarter, rallying to edge Archbishop Molloy 61-60 in Briarwood, Queens on Friday night. Myers scored 13 points in the final frame, fueling a fourth quarter rally that gave Christ the King their 8th win in their last 9 games.

The Stanners held a 51-39 lead at the end of the third, but the Royals opened the fourth on a 7-0 run, trimming the margin to 51-46 on a jumper by Sterling Jones with 5:45 to play.

A 3-point play by Christian Bliss put Molloy in front 54-46, but Christ the King answered with a 9-0 run, with Myers accounting for 7 points during the spurt, including a clutch triple that gave the Royals the lead at 55-54 with 2:45 remaining. The lead would change hands 4 times over the next minute, with Mick Browne getting back-to-back baskets for the Stanners and Myers draining a pair of free throws and then converting a runner to give Christ the King a 59-58 lead before Molloy called a timeout after recovering a loose ball with 1:15 on the clock.

Speedy Carcamo put Molloy ahead 60-59 after banking home a floater in the lane, but Myers scored on another drive on the ensuing possession, a shot that proved to be the game-winner, putting Christ the King ahead for good at 61-60. The basket by Myers was the 7th and final lead change in the last 2:45 of the game.

Molloy still had a chance to win it, calling a timeout after a steal by Isaiah Grant with 14.7 ticks left. Christ the King defended the possession, cutting off a drive by Bliss into the lane and forcing a kickout to Carcamo, who missed a 3-pointer with time winding down. Lovell Smith missed the front end of a one-and-one after securing the rebound and being fouled with 0.9 seconds left, but a long heave by Bliss at the buzzer was off the mark.

The comeback was the second of the game for the Royals, who fell behind by double digits in the second quarter before pulling within three at 35-32 at the half. Jones finished with 16 and Smith had 11 for Christ the King. The Royals, now 6-6 in league play, will visit first place Xaverian (8-4) on Sunday.

Browne finished with 21 points and Bliss scored 13 for Molloy. The Stanners (5-9, 12-10), will visit Bishop Loughlin on Tuesday.
