Key'Sean Maynard's buzzer-beating 3-pointer gave St. Francis Prep their 9th straight win, as the Terriers edged Archbishop Molloy 64-62 in Fresh Meadows on Friday night.

Prep trailed by as many as 19 in the second quarter and faced a 41-29 halftime deficit, but a 14-4 run to start the third quarter brought them back into it.

The Terriers pulled within a point at 45-44 after a 3-pointer by Jaden Daughtry, but Mick Browne and Maynard traded triples and a fall away jumper by Christian Bliss gave the Stanners a 50-47 advantage heading into the fourth.

St. Francis Prep finally took the lead at 52-51 on an elbow jumper by Daughtry with 6:35 left in the 4th, and another 3-pointer by Maynard made it 55-51.

Molloy tied the game at 56 on a jumper by Bliss, but Prep pulled in front 60-56 after a run-out layup by Todd Rochelle and two free throws by Latiek Briscoe.

It looked like the Terriers had put the game away when a free throw by Briscoe gave St. Francis Prep a 61-56 lead with 50.6 ticks left, but Molloy was not done.

The Stanners got within a point at 61-60 after a bucket by Browne and a double-clutch by AJ Piedra, and Molloy took a 62-61 lead when Isaiah Grant converted two free throws after being fouled on a drive with 17.6 seconds left.

St. Francis Prep called a timeout after advancing the ball into the frontcourt, and Rochelle found Maynard spotting up in the corner for the game-winner as time expired.

Daughtry finished with 20 points, Maynard and Briscoe scored 12 apiece and Rochelle had 11 for St. Francis Prep. Bliss had 18 points and Browne finished with 16 for Molloy.

The Terriers are currently holding the top spot in the CHSAA Brooklyn-Queens standings with a league record of 9-5, while Christ the King and Xaverian are both 9-6. St. Francis Prep is the only one of the three teams that controls their own destiny, meaning they can clinch the regular season crown outright by winning both of their two remaining league contests. That will be a difficult task, as both games are on the road against two of the hottest teams in NYC. On Saturday the Terriers will visit Monsignor Scanlan, which is coming off back-to-back wins over St. Raymond and Archbishop Stepinac, the top two teams in the CHSAA New York Archdiocese, and on Tuesday Prep will visit Cardinal Hayes, another team that seems to have hit its stride at the right time, winning their last five.

Christ the King and Xaverian each have one league game left. The Royals host St. Raymond on Sunday while Xaverian is home against Holy Cross, also on Sunday.
