St. Raymond rallied to defeat NY Archdiocesan rival Iona Prep 50-48 in the Bronx on Friday night, as the Ravens outscored the Gaels 17-7 in the fourth quarter. After Ty Jerome scored 12 of Iona Prep's 17 first quarter points, St. Raymond adjusted nicely on defense, holding Jerome to only two points in the last three quarters. With the score tied at 48 in the final minute, Dallas Watson of St. Raymond made a pull-up jumper at the foul line (see below), to put the Ravens ahead 50-48. In its last possession, Iona Prep worked to get Jerome a good look at a three-pointer that did not fall (see also below). Isaiah Washington had 15 points and Sidney Wilson had 12 points for St. Raymond, but the defensive adjustments made by Coach Jorge Lopez were also key for St. Raymond down the stretch. Jerome had 14 points and Gio Gabbidon, Patrick Fleming and Nick Brennen each had 11 points for Iona Prep. St. Raymond is now 3-0 in CHSAA league play and Iona Prep is 2-1.
