Bishop Loughlin, the top seed from the Brooklyn-Queens Diocese, advanced to the CHSAA intersectional semifinals with a 59-47 win over Iona Prep in the quarterfinal round at Fordham University on Sunday.
Julian Champagnie scored a game-high 21 points, connecting on 8 of 10 field goals, and reserve Adam Logan-Tobierre added 11 for the Lions. Loughlin raced out to a 14-6 lead in the opening eight minutes, but Iona Prep was able to slow the pace in the second, outscoring the Lions 17-12 in the frame to pull within three at 26-23 at the half. Keeshawn Jones (7), Isaac Gonzalez (5) and Marquis Dukes (5) combined for 17 of the Gaels' 23 first-half points.

Iona Prep tied the score at 26 early in the third, but Champagnie stepped up for Loughlin, and the Lions led by as many as 10 in the quarter before the Gaels climbed back into it. Loughlin got to the line 18 times in the fourth, but the Lions made just 10 of those attempts, keeping the Gaels alive before finally putting the game away in the final minutes.
