Keith Williams had 25 points and Markquis Nowell had 19 points to lead Bishop Loughlin to a 69-63 win over Archbishop Stepinac in Brooklyn on Sunday. With Loughlin alum and current Seton Hall guard Khadeen Carrington on hand to watch his alma mater, the Lions overcame a game-high 36 point performance by Jordan Tucker to win their second straight game after losing at Molloy without Nowell in the second half (ankle injury). Loughlin's offense was clicking for most of the game, making it difficult for Stepinac to defend, especially on ball screens. The officials were quick with the whistles, resulting in 47 free throw attempts during the game. The start of the second half was delayed because of an apparent discrepancy with the scorebook, resulting in a point being taken off the scoreboard for Loughlin. That did not affect the Lions, who increased their lead to six at the end of the third and held on for the 69-63 win. Loughlin, currently ranked 4th in New York State, is now 5-1 in CHSAA play and 9-3 overall and Stepinac is 1-7 and 4-9, respectively. Both teams have home games on Friday, with Loughlin taking on Holy Cross and Stepinac facing Mount.
